What does a postpartum doula do?

The postpartum period is one of the most transformative times in our lives. Postpartum can range in emotions, from overwhelming love and joy to anxiety and depression or even rage. No postpartum experience is all of one and none of the other, but more of a mixture of all these feelings. None are wrong to feel or invalid. Having support can make all the difference during this delicate time. 

I myself struggled with postpartum depression with both of my kids, and it spurred me on to get my postpartum certification so that I could be with moms from pregnancy to postpartum. Postpartum work has a special place in my heart because this is when moms are really in the thick of it, and I love walking into a home and carving out some space and time that is just meant to pamper and serve the new mom.

A typical postpartum shift may include, but are not limited to: 

• Newborn care while mom + partner sleep or complete some tasks without baby

• Breastfeeding/bottle feeding assistance

• Newborn/infant education

• Meal prep for family

• Light household chores

• A postpartum companion who understands the challenges of this season

Packages come in 4 or 6 weeks of support, with 2 visits per week

Cost: 4 week postpartum support $1500

          6 week postpartum support $2200
